Works in Progress

Works in Progress (WiP) Fridays are an opportunity for some cross-site conversation and dissemination of work occurring in the Digital Learning Collaborative (DLC). Each month, up to four teams are invited to join us in the Department of Technology Services (DTS) to share their work in progress, to receive some feedback from colleagues, and to share with the IT department what their technology infused instruction or current teacher research looks like.  DTS, under the direction of Steve Borecky, our manager of IT, presents some of what’s going on here in the technology department, too.

All team presentations are streamed to the Web (see the embedded live stream and chat below) for increased dissemination, participation and feedback. Each month’s presentations are available here on the Instructional Technology Blog in the Works in Progress category. and are added to the growing collection of video and audio Field Notes of teachers discussing their practice.

During the afternoon,  teams have an opportunity to dig deeper into their projects or research, as well as to consult with DTS staff to work through any technical issues or opportunities that the teams require assistance on.

The schedule for Works in Progress Friday is as follows – in general, teams have twenty minutes to share what they’ve working on. They might use this time to help us understand their work or to give us the context that we’ll need to understand what questions they want to ask us about. Or, they might wish to have us participate in a short activity, or tell the story of their work. Then, after each presentation, we’ll talk back to them through some structured feedback.
