SAT and PSAT Preparation Classes

This year, the Niwot Counseling Department will continue our spring tradition of offering SAT and PSAT preparation classes (as a reminder, Colorado high schools have transitioned away from the ACT and will be offering the SAT suite of assessments for college entrance exams). These preparation courses are managed and taught by Princeton Review and begin in early March.

We will be offering two-courses: a 5-hour SAT 101 course and a 15-hour SAT Fundamentals course.   All class sessions will be held at Niwot High. Both courses will include a full-length SAT practice exam/s on Saturdays at the Princeton Review location in Boulder. Contact your counselor for more information about our limited number of scholarships.

Both courses have limited enrollment and will fill quickly. Priority registration is open to 11th graders from January 20, Noon – January 27, 5:00pm. Registration will be open for both 11th and 10th graders from January 28, 8:00am until February 8, midnight. Students may also register by calling the Princeton Review office in Boulder at 720-214-2721.

Both courses will be complete before Spring Break, allowing juniors to finish their final preparation and study before the Colorado SAT (with Writing), which is the mandatory (and free) SAT for juniors on April 11th, and 10th graders to be finished their studies before the PSAT10, also on April 11th. Many juniors and seniors elect to take additional SAT and/or ACT exams, both of which you must register for on your own.

Looking ahead to the fall of 2017, NHS will also offer a PSAT/NMSQT course to next year’s juniors.

Finally, please don’t forget to supplement all of your PSAT and SAT preparation with the amazing free offerings from Kahn Academy and College Board. Check out this step by step video guide on how to load your PSAT scores into Kahn Academy.
