Silver Creek High School
Weekly Update for Friday, January 27th
A message from the Principal:
In an effort to keep our weekly update/blog fresh we will only be running messages for two weeks. We will try to post the newest information towards the top of our message. We appreciate your taking the time to read the update and look forward to better serving you with the most current information available.
Next week will serve as our Winter Spirit Week. Student Senate will be hosting a spirit wear week. On Friday we will run an assembly schedule for a senate-sponsored pep rally recognizing academic scholars, student athletes and performing arts. Saturday we are hosting the Chinese New Year Celebration from 2-4 p.m. in coordination with SCLA and A-PAL (information poster). Saturday night our boys and girls basketball teams will take on Skyline in a double header at SCHS. The “Decades” dance will follow the games from 9-11 PM. This dance is limited to the first 200 tickets as it will be held in our commons. Here is a link to our dance behavior policy/contract. Students and parents are responsible for signing off if a student wishes to attend dances. We need 8-10 parent chaperons for this event to be held. If interested please contact Lois Davis in the main office. We will take chaperon requests on a first-come basis.
In the Spring of 2012, 9th and 10th grade students will be taking the TCAP (formerly known as CSAP). This standards-based test is used by schools across Colorado to measure student proficiency in reading, writing, math and science. Results of this test help us to construct academic schedules, develop goals, identify strengths and weaknesses in instructional programming and create a body of evidence based upon group and individual student performance(s). Here is a link to information regarding the TCAP. We will be publishing a schedule in the coming weeks that details the assessment schedule on March 13, 14, 15 and 20.
Check out this presentation by Nathan Palmer aimed at supporting our 10 for 10 technology fundraising campaign. 10 for 10 Some devices may not be able to support the refresh rate. For more information on 10 for 10 click here.
Congratulations to our honor roll recipients for Semester 1! Great job students and teachers!
