Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our students and staff on successfully participating in the annual Colorado ACT exam!  We are very excited to hear of our results, which typically become available in August.

The training program provides valuable information about curriculum, finance, operations safety, governance, operations, education legislation, and public participation.  Applicants can apply by visiting Leadership St. Vrain’s online application page, linked below and posted to the homepage under “What’s New.” The Department of Communications recommends that schools place the following link on your school’s website: (http://www.stvrain.k12.co.us/news/2011051902.php). Parents can obtain a hardcopy of the application by contacting John Poynton at 303-682-7404 or email or by picking up a copy at the Educational Services Center, 395 S. Pratt Parkway, Longmont. The Silver Creek High School Safety Committee meets throughout the school year to help establish a safe school environment. The committee seeks input from teachers, administrators, campus supervisors and a Longmont Police SRO.

We conduct monthly fire drill exercises so that all staff and students are comfortable with their exit plans from the building. We also conduct additional exercises in Lockdown, Lockout, Evacuation and Shelter in Place.

This year, in April, the school will conduct a large scale safety drill in partnership with local emergency first responders. This drill will include a lockdown situation of all students and staff. Emergency personnel will practice clearing the hallways of potential threats and medical personnel will service injury situations (all being a mock situation). This drill will also include a full scale off-site evacuation of all school personnel to a safe site.  We will communicate with our parent community immediately when this drill occurs, to alleviate any confusion or fear.  Should a real event occur we will be in communication with our parent community via phone messaging and email.

Safety at Silver Creek High School is a primary priority that our staff takes very seriously. If you have any questions or concerns please contact an Administrative Representative at 720-494-3721.
