Silver Creek High School

Weekly Update for Friday, May 11th

Update from the Principal

Dear Parents,

It was a rousing sendoff at Silver Creek, yesterday, for the Class of 2012.  The timer and students counted down the final moments. The main corridor was lined with underclassmen cheering on the Class of 2012 as they exited in t-shirts (provided by a silent donor) that read “ACCEPTED Silver Creek Grad Going Places”.  Graduates were then greeted by parents, extending the tunnel of applause all the way to the flagpole.  This will be a tradition we will carry on for years to come.

We’ve also received word that our Yearbook cover was ranked top five in the nation by Josten’s publishing!  Great thanks to the yearbook crew and Ms. Mason.  Our Yearbook will be featured as a selected cover and used as an exemplar in design for other schools across the country.

One more chance tonight to catch our Raptor performing artists in action.  Beautiful performances have been occurring all week by these elite level performers.  Come join us this evening at 7:00 PM for the solo and ensemble concert.

Silver Creek High School has been presented a Silver Ranking by the US News and World Report for Best High Schools in the United States.  We have been ranked nationally as #1128 and #35 in the state of Colorado.  This is the first time for Silver Creek to gain recognition by US News and World Report.  This ranking is a combination of factors including AP participation, math and reading scores, student to teacher ratio, socio-economic factors and college preparedness.  Feel proud that your child goes to a school that has received national acclaim, and it is only getting better!  Students, feel proud that you helped Silver Creek to gain this recognition!

Let’s keep this positive momentum growing, Raptor Nation!  With finals and major assignments due within the next week or two, please take the time to talk with your child regarding his/her academic workload and preparation for a strong finish.

Kindest regards,
Erick Finnestead
Principal, Silver Creek High School
