Silver Creek High School
Weekly Update for Friday, August 30th
Thank you for your attendance at Back to School Night. It was a terrific evening and we appreciate your time and investment in meeting our teachers. We are soon to be adding more teachers on account of our student population growth. In the next two weeks we will be hiring in Spanish, Social Studies and Special Education. We look forward to introducing these new teachers to you and reducing some class sizes.
Please be reminded that we have a late start day on September 4, 2013. Also, we will be posting instructions for our online Parent Teacher Conference Scheduler the week of September 16, 2013. Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 9 and 10. We look forward to seeing you there.
Picture retakes (for school portraits, yearbook, etc.) will be October 4th. Those students wanting to purchase pictures may do so online at www.studio5schoolportraits.com. Use Login: SilverCreekHS1314. All orders must be prepaid via the Studio 5 website prior to picture day (the school IS NOT handling picture orders). If you have any questions please contact Studio 5 at (Northern Front Range) 970-674-0520 or (Denver Metro) 303-550-4456.
Your student will be receiving their detailed TCAP results in their English classroom over the next few days. Results can also be viewed on your students Infinite Campus but this does not provide specific details.
For students in 9th grade from Westview, we are awaiting your detailed TCAP results to be sent over and will forward these sheets home upon arrival at Silver Creek.
We would like to notify students that live in the Airport Rd and Mountain view area that there is a new bus stop just created 8/20/13. The stop is at 1229 Twin Peaks Cir at 6:57am and drop off at same place at 2:31pm. This is bus #140.

Tutoring Club of Longmont offers free ACT/SAT tests once a month to benefit High Schools in Saint Vrain Valley School District.
Once a month the Tutoring Club of Longmont offers free practice ACT and SAT tests to High School students. These tests are an excellent opportunity for students to experience a full-length ACT or SAT test in a relaxed environment without the fear of this score going on a college transcript. Each student’s score and full analysis of a student’s strengths and weaknesses will be available 3 days following. There is no pressure to sign up for our program and students are only presented with how our program could help them. I have attached a Flyer that was approved by Saint Vrain if you desire to post it or give it to prospective students.
Tutoring Club of Longmont is conveniently located on the diagonal of Ken Pratt and Nelson. All tests are scheduled on Saturdays and start promptly at 9:00 am. If a student would like to take one of these tests, please have them email us at Longmontco@tutoringclub.com.
If you need any more information please give us a call (303) 651-0800.

Fines and Fees
Each school year students accrue various fees and fines. Fines are assessed for lost textbooks. Fees help pay for athletics and/or classroom extras like labs and consumable workbooks. Fees will be attached to student accounts and will be available for payment after August 28th. Information regarding fees is available to you on RevTrak, which may be accessed via the district website and the Silver Creek website. You may also pay by check or cash at the front desk. If you have questions, please contact Lois Davis at 720-494-3721 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
UPDATE ON DISTRICT POLICY ON CLASS FEES for Free/Reduced Students
SVVSD has amended its policy in regard to all class fees, which will affect those students designated for Free or Reduced Lunch. Beginning this school year, students receiving free lunch will be assessed 25%of any fees associated with their classes. Students receiving reduced lunch will be assessed 50% of applicable fees. This policy affects class fees only and does not alter any school meal benefits.
Wednesday September 4th is Late Start (Maroon Day). School starts at 9:45 a.m. and morning buses will run 2 ½ hours later than normal time. Click on schedule for the full block schedule.

Colorado Junior Crew is looking for 8th grade and high school aged athletes (13-18). This is an inclusive, no experience necessary sport. Everyone rows, everyone competes. Our professional coaches will teach you all you need to row. Practices are at the Boulder Reservoir after school (an 18 minute drive from Silver Creek.) Visit http://www.cjcrew.org/
If you want to row in the fall season, shoot us an email to the address on the contacts page of the website.
Ideal candidates are able to commit time to an after school program; interested in becoming part of a fun and competitive team; and willing to develop themselves physically with strength, stamina and full body conditioning. High school rowing experience could assist you in getting into the college of your dreams, occasionally with a scholarship. We also have openings for coxswains (the person that steers the boat and motivates the crew.)
