Counseling Corner

Schedule Changes for second semester- last day is December 19th!!!

Silver Creek parents. Please take time with your students to go over their second semester class schedules as soon as possible. Freshman and sophomores should have all eight blocks filled (unless a special arrangement has been made with their counselor) and all juniors and seniors need to have at least six classes. If a student wants to make any additions, drops or changes, for any reason, now is the time since  there will be no schedule changes made after December 19th! The options for electives are extremely limited and there’s a strong likelihood that changes won’t be possible, but the sooner the student can meet with his/her respective counselor, the better the chances are.Thank you for your support in enabling the students (and their teachers!) to hit the ground running when they return for the start of second semester by being in the right courses.

A college representative from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be here on Tuesday, December 3rd at noon.  Please sign up in the counseling office.

Tutoring Club of Longmont offers free ACT/SAT tests once a month to benefit high schools in the Saint Vrain Valley School District.  These tests are an excellent opportunity for students to experience a full-length ACT or SAT test in a relaxed environment without the fear of this score going on a college transcript.   Each students score and full analysis of the strengths and weaknesses indicated by the test will be available 3 days following the practice test.  There is no pressure to sign up for our program, and students are only presented with how the program could help them.

Tutoring Club of Longmont is conveniently located on the diagonal of Ken Pratt and Nelson.   All tests are scheduled on Saturdays and start promptly at 9:00 a.m.  If a student would like to take one of these tests, he/she can email Longmontco@tutoringclub.com.

The options for electives are extremely limited and there’s a strong likelihood that changes won’t be possible but the sooner the student can meet with their respective counselor the better their chances are.Thank you for your support in enabling the students (and their teachers!) to hit the ground running when they return for the start of second semester by being in the right courses.

Each student’s score and full analysis of the strengths and weaknesses indicated by the test will be available 3 days following the practice test.

Road Construction Update

Students and Parents,

Road construction will be occurring at the intersection of Clover Basin and Eagan beginning November 4, 2013.  This will close Clover Basin as a new traffic circle is installed.  Please be aware that this will inhibit traffic along Clover Basin and plan for a longer commute time.

Road construction will be occurring November 21-30 on Grandview Avenue.  Grandview will be closed from Nelson to Clover Basin.  While we hope this construction will be completed on time, please be aware that this will inhibit all access to Silver Creek High School from Grandview Avenue.
