RABC News

Welcome back to a new school year!  We look forward to seeing all the new faces around the school with the new Freshman class!  There are lots of opportunities for parents to be a part of their child’s high school years.  I experienced that when I joined the Booster Club 8 years ago, when my oldest started High School.  It was the best way for me to really get to know the school & the students my child will be with for the next 4 years.  I encourage all parents to get involved somehow with the school.

Several of the easiest ways to get involved is to volunteer with Bingo, Concessions, School Store, Homecoming, After Prom or behind the scene job as the Fundraising Liaison.  Email any of the Board Members to find out more details.

Concessions is in great need of a few key positions NOW…we are looking for Games Managers to open & close the stand for Fall & Winter games.  We also need 1-2 people to do the purchasing & inventory for concessions.  Please email or call me, Kaydene, for more details on those positions.  They are all easy & fun jobs!

Important Bus Pass Information for Parents of Students Riding the Bus

As we near the end of the 2013-14 school year, I would like to thank you for encouraging your student/s to show up with their bus pass each and every day this past school year.  Doing so has provided our students with a greater level of safety and security.   As explained during initial roll out and distribution, students only receive one free bus pass.  Therefore, your student’s’ bus passes must be safely stored over the summer months until the start of the new school year to avoid the cost of a replacement.

Should your student require a replacement pass, please contact the Bus Pass coordinator by sending an email to buspass@svvsd.org or calling 303-702-7540.  The replacement cost for lost, stolen and/or mutilated bus passes is $5.00 and shows up as fee under your student’s name in Infinite Campus.

Message from RABC BINGO

Silver Creek Parents, Coaches and Sponsors –

The RABC Bingo program is in danger….we need your help.

The RABC Bingo program has been in operation since 2007.  We average profit of $40K per year.  The funds from this program are used by the various athletic programs, leadership programs and for the general Silver Creek community.  Teams have used these funds to supplement travel needs, uniforms and training equipment.  We purchased the flagpole behind the school, the SC folding chairs used for various events, the mats hanging in the gym, the marquee out front and athletic training supplies.  These are just a few examples. We also use these funds to host the homecoming parade, homecoming tailgate party, homecoming halftime, after prom and teacher appreciation meals throughout the year.

The bingo program is only one of the fundraisers in the RABC (Raptor Activities Booster Club).  However, it accounts for 70% of our total income.  We are struggling to stay in business due to a decrease in customer attendance and a lack of volunteer participation to run the sessions.  We need parents to volunteer to work bingo.  Bingo is held every Wednesday night (year round).  We need volunteers to make a commitment to work once a month for a minimum of 6 months.  Right now, we are operating with only 50% of the staff required to honor the “once a month” goal.  As a result our volunteers are working multiple times a month, which will result in more volunteers leaving.  Additionally, summer is a difficult time because we have volunteers with seniors leaving and other parents deciding they want the summer off.  We cannot wait until August.  We need volunteers now.  If we wait, we may be out of business before school starts next year.

We greatly appreciate your help in making this program a success.  Below is list of positions and the current needs.  Please have interested volunteers contact us at raptorbingo@gmail.com.

  • Games Manager – 4 required – 2 available
  • Caller – 4 required – 1 available

Sincerely,

Randy McKie

Director of Transportation

Hosting an Exchange Student

Host families are needed to open their heart and home to some great teens from around the world for the 2014-2015 school year. Hosting enriches the lives of families, students and entire communities. The teens are between the ages of 15 and 18, speak English, have their own medical insurance, and bring their own spending money for school lunches, everyday expenses, entertainment etc. Mostly, they have a lot of love to give their American family! A volunteer host family provides a room (which may be shared), meals in the home and a caring environment for their student. Students attend your local public high school while on program. There is no such thing as a typical host family! Single-parent families, retired couples, families with young children, no children, as well as those with teenagers or empty-nesters have all had successful hosting experiences and embrace the opportunity to share their lives.

If you are interested in learning more about student exchange, please visit our websitehttp://www.iseusa.com/ or contact Debbie Stewart at (720) 318-9711 or email debbie@terastorm.com.
