Counseling News

The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship application is now open to all students, regardless of their academic background.

Since 1952, the Boettcher Foundation has awarded nearly $60 million in undergraduate scholarships to many of Colorado’s best and brightest students.  The merit-based awards provide what is essentially a full-ride to any 4-year institution in Colorado.

The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship is extremely competitive and has a rigorous application process.  The application deadline is October 21st so time is of the essence!  We encourage all interested seniors to review the Selection and Eligibility Criteria and the Frequently Asked Questions sections on Boettcher Foundation Scholarship website to help determine if you are interested in applying.

http://www.boettcherfoundation.org/home/scholarships/application-process/

There is also a helpful Competitiveness Quiz available to help you in this process:

https://www.boettcherscholarshiponline.org/competitive/?y=s

IMPORTANT:  If you are interested in applying for the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship, you MUST request to be invited by your specific Counselor.  To do this, please email or see them in person and be able to provide your full name and personal email address.  This will be the method by which you are contacted by the Boettcher Foundation. Your email will not be used for any other reason.

Attention Juniors:  The Deadline to Register for the PSAT exam is Friday, October 3rd!   This important test will be offered here at Silver Creek on Saturday, October 18th at 8:00 am.  A precursor to the SAT, the PSAT is a great practice tool that provides excellent preparation for the important ACT and SAT college admission exams.  The PSAT is also the sole measure used to determine National Merit Scholarship eligibility for juniors.  There are a limited number of tests available and they will be sold on a first come first served basis.  To register you must bring $20 (cash or check payable to Silver Creek High School) to Leslie Chopp, Registrar in the Counseling Office.  Sophomores who would like to take the PSAT can sign up to be on a waiting list with Ms. Chopp.  If spots are available these sophomores will be notified in October.   Don’t wait!  Register now for the PSAT!

Interested in attending an out-of-state college? Check out schools from across the country at the National College Fair on Oct. 18th from 1-4 p.m. at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Go to www.nacacnet.org for more information.
