Students/Parents: As a reminder, September 2nd is our first late start date. School will begin at 10:00 a.m. Busses will pick up students 2 ½ hours later than the normal route time.
The iPad insurance window will only be open through September 11th. The yearly cost is $35.00 We highly encourage students to have this insurance on the mini i-Pads to cover repairs. After this date, the insurance will no longer be available for purchase and students will be responsible to pay for full repair if there is damage to their iPad.
2016 Senior Shirt Design Contest
Submission Deadline Tuesday, September 1st
Are you a senior? Love to sketch designs? Have a great slogan? Have School Spirit? Well listen to this………..
The School Store is looking for 2016 senior students to submit design ideas for this year’s senior shirt. The 2016 student body will vote on the designs to select the official 2016 School Store Senior Shirt.
All final design/slogan ideas are due Tuesday, September 1st. The winner will receive a free senior shirt once they are created.
The review committee will select the 3 best designs for voting. Voting will take place the weekend of Friday, Sept 5th – Sunday Sept 7th (via Google Survey). The winner will be announced on Friday September 11th.
Requirements for t-shirt design/slogan submissions:

- Maximum height 15 inches
- Design can incorporate up to 4 colors

Community Service Society/SCLA Capstone Project
There’s still time! The deadline for Community Service Society applications is this Friday, August 28th. We are looking for new members that want to help us make a difference in the community. If you want to apply, there are some extra copies of the application in Ms. Owens Room (E202) or go to www.ChiSigmaSigma.org for the link. See the attached flyer for more information.

Student Fees for Semester 1
Student fees will be downloaded to Infinite Campus on September 11th. Fees can be paid online with credit card or in the office (cash, check or credit card) after September 11th. Fees paid in the office need to be turned in with the student’s name and the course fees that are being paid (envelope if possible). Teachers cannot accept class fees.
Learning Technology Plan – IPAD
- Make ups for Pictures will be September 28th, 2015. Studio 5 will be located outside the A-wing from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. This is for all students who are wanting retakes and those students that have not received their ID’s.

Transcripts: Seniors who need an official transcript sent to a college need to pick up a Transcript Request Form in the Counseling Office. Transcripts are $2.00.

High School Mountain Bike Team
If you like to get out and ride the trails – or if you never have but want to try – contact us to find out more. The team welcomes beginner and experienced riders to learn, improve, and compete on great trails around Colorado. We ride with students from other area schools Lyons, Niwot and Longmont. Do you have an interest in broadcasting? If so, Silver Creek is looking at live streaming varsity contests during the school year. We are also hoping to live stream events such as concerts and other programs which our amazing student body has to offer. We need volunteers to help make this a success. “Welcome Back A Wing”
Thursday, September 10th
5:45pm to 7:00pm
SCOPA (Silver Creek Organization for Performing Arts) welcomes students and families of the A Wing for an information-sharing gathering to learn more about A Wing programs and activities for the new school year and also find out how to get involved through SCOPA to support the A Wing. Dinner will be provided (you don’t have bring a side dish or a dessert this year!!).
The evening event lineup includes:
5:45pm Kick Off with the Marching Band showcasing a portion of their 2015 program (in the parking lot).
6:00pm Teachers and SCOPA presentation in the auditorium
6:30pm BBQ dinner / Picnic Style– bring blankets or lawn chairs
SCOPA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
SCOPA helps to fund the performing arts programs throughout the year FOR ALL STUDENTS IN THE A WING. Through our bingo fundraising program we are able to support many opportunities for our A Wing students. Volunteers are needed to help us continue to be successful at reducing student fees and supporting A Wing activities. We run two bingo sessions per week throughout the year. Come work Bingo for A Wing Fundraising! SCOPA Sessions are every Saturday and Sunday at the Longmont Bingo Alley. Volunteers on Saturday arrive at 10:30am and Volunteers on Sunday arrive at 4:30pm. Session volunteer time is approximately 4 hours.
SCOPA needs volunteers to keep this fundraising program going! Without this efficient fundraising program, student fees go up and scholarships and grant funding goes down.

Help Organize or Attend our Biggest Fundraiser — the Mardi Gras Party & Auction
Hold the date for Saturday February 20, 2016 at the Best Western on Ken Pratt. We’ll have dinner, live bands, dancing, a cash bar and a silent auction. Volunteers are needed for this starting as early as October 2015.

RABC (Raptors Activities Booster Club)
Thank you to all of the parents that came to our first meeting this past Monday. It was a great turn out & we are excited about this year! You can get the Minutes from the meeting under our Booster Club link on the website.

Would you like to join a carpool and avoid the morning rush? Does your student need a ride to or from school? The attached spreadsheet is a place where parents can share information to contact other parents in their neighborhoods and start a carpool. This is a volunteer spreadsheet and information put in will be available for all Silver Creek families to view or edit. Silver Creek does not organize or monitor carpools.
Information About School Lunch
St. Vrain Valley School’s Nutrition Service staff believes that nutritious school meals are a main ingredient in students’ ability to learn in the classroom. It’s hard for students to focus when they are hungry. Our staff takes pride in providing meals that meet the USDA nutrition requirements, include as many local ingredients as possible, but taste great too! These employees support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. Approximately 18,000 student meals are produced in our kitchens each day. In the 2013-14 school year this team produced over 3.25 million meals and snacks for students using over 850,000 pounds of local fresh produce.

Please take advantage of the options to prepay your student’s meal accounts. Prepaid meal accounts help the lunch lines go faster and gives students more time to eat, relax, and play. It also gives you the peace of mind of not having to worry about looking for lunch money every day or worry that it might get lost, stolen or used for other things other than lunch.
Meal Charging Guidelines – It is very important to keep you child’s account current. If you have any questions about the account, please call your child’s school kitchen manager.

Send Check or Cash
You can always bring money personally or send it with your student. Please place it in an envelope marked clearly with your student’s name, their ID #, their teacher’s name, the $ amount and the check #. Turn in prepaid deposits to the cafeteria cashier(s) or school office.
If you choose to bring money to school personally or send it with your student, please put it in an envelope clearly marked with the student’s first and last name, their ID #, their teacher’s name, and the amount enclosed.
TO EXCUSE AN ABSENCE – please contact Lois Davis at 720-494-3721 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include the student’s first and last name as well as the date and reason for the absence. The absence must be called in or emailed within 48 hours of the absence in order to be excused. Absences called in after 48 hours cannot be excused unless approved by the student’s assistant principal.
TAKING YOUR STUDENT OUT OF SCHOOL DURING THE SCHOOL DAY– If you would like to pull your student out of school during the school day, please send him/her to school with a signed note indicating the time you would like him/her to be excused. The student should bring the note to the attendance window before school starts. The student will receive a pink pass to give to the teacher for the class he/she will be leaving early from. Students leaving early should always sign out at the attendance window. You can meet your child at the attendance window or you can tell him/her to sign out and meet you outside. The attendance clerk will use the note to excuse the student in Infinite Campus. If the absence is a last-minute appointment, call the office as soon as possible so your student can pick up a pass during passing period. We know that emergencies arise and we would like to make the pickup as easy as possible. Planning ahead limits classroom disruption.
Extended absences (vacation) – There is an “Extended Leave of Absence” form students can pick up prior to leaving for an extended time. This form allows teachers to document any assignments a student will be missing and their current grade in class. Parents and students are required to sign the form, and after teachers have added grades/homework, students must get signatures from administration and return the form to the attendance clerk.
Health office visits- Students who are not feeling well need to let their teacher know so the students can be excused to visit the health office. Students leaving school from the health office can sign themselves out and meet parents outside. Parent/Guardians have 48 hours to excuse absences. We strongly encourage students to contact their parents from the health office and not the teacher’s classroom.

Important Bus Pass Information for Parents of Students Riding the Bus
Students only receive one free bus pass. For a replacement pass, please contact the Bus Pass coordinator by sending an email to bus email@example.com or calling 303-702-7540. The replacement cost for lost, stolen and/or mutilated bus passes is $5.00 and shows up as fee under your student’s name in Infinite Campus. New students to the district or new to riding the bus may pick up their bus passes at the Main Office of the school they will be attending.
Low Cost Health Insurance
Students who are 18 and graduating may be eligible for FREE and LOW-COST HEALTH INSURANCE through their 19th birthdays! This health insurance is available through Medicaid and CHP+ and enrollment occurs right here through St Vrain Valley School District. Once children turn 18 and are no longer in school, Medicaid no longer counts parent income towards the child’s eligibility! Please call The Healthy Kids Initiative at 720-722-1454 to see if your kids qualify today!
