Dear Parent/Guardians:

Silver Creek student schedules will be available for students to view on Infinite Campus beginning the first week of August. If schedule changes are needed, please submit a change request form (which will be available on the Silver Creek website). It is requested that schedule changes are not made via email or phone requests. Please see the SC website in August for additional details regarding schedules and schedule changes.

Picture/Locker Day/iPad distribution for students will be August 11th and 12th. See below for specific times for each grade. If your student is unable to attend their assigned day, you may come on different day. This is an open house format so students can arrive anytime between the designated times.

Students unable to attend Picture-Locker/iPad Distribution day will have an opportunity to get pictures taken, get locker assignments and receive their iPad on August 17.  Please note, this date is a change from the original notification that was sent out.  Studio 5 will be available to take pictures (this is not a re-take day) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  iPad’s can be picked up in the IMC from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Students must provide proof that they have an ID and a locker assignment in order to receive their iPad.  If you have questions please contact the Main Office or email davis_lois@svvsd.org.

Seniors – August 11th, 1:30 -3:30 p.m.

Juniors – August 12th, 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Sophomores – August 12th, 1:30 -3:30 p.m.

New Students to the district – August 11th, 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Please enter the school through the north crescent doors (near the A-Wing/auditorium) and begin the iPAD Distribution and Picture/Locker Day process.

New ID‛s and locker assignments are required for entrance to the iPad Distribution in the Library.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!! STUDENTS MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING PAPERWORK TO PROCEED THROUGH THE PICTURE/LOCKER DAY/iPAD PROCESS! These forms will be mailed out to student families by the first week of August.

  • iPAD Parent and Student Agreement (Coral Form Required)
  • iPAD fees/fines paid (previous iPAD fees must be paid before being issued an iPad at SCHS)
  • 2016-2017 Permissions (please make any changes, if needed, and return)
  • Picture Order Form – Now you can order online! Please visit www.studio5schoolportraits.com use: Password:SilverCreekHS2016. Cash/check orders will be accepted on the day of pictures with the included form. If you have any questions, please contact Studio 5 at 888-674-0525. Please do not call the school.
  • Discipline Signature Page (required for all students)
  • Student Health/Emergency Contact Information (required for all students EXCEPT those students new to the district and incoming 9th grade students)
  • Outstanding Fees/fines payment or return of lost textbooks (if applicable)
  • Parking Permit Form (Required for all drivers; $5.00 cash/check) There are a limited number of permits. Priority will be given to Seniors, followed by Juniors and finally sophomores on Picture/Locker days. All vehicles parked in the Silver Creek parking lot must have a SCH parking sticker.
  • Athletic Pass Form (Optional form is available to print online or to pick up in the office August 1, 2016)

School starts for Freshmen and all students new to Silver Creek at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. An orientation program will be followed by lunch (provided) and an abbreviated eight-period schedule.

All students (new and returning) attend school on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 7:30 a.m.. Students will begin with their ‘A” day classes 1-4. Lunch will be available for purchase. CDC classes will begin on Thursday, August 18th, 2016.

2016-2017 Student Schedules Are Available in IC.

Please read all bullet points prior to requesting a schedule change.

Schedule changes accepted: August 2 – 15, 2016.

Schedule change request forms can be found below.

  • Student classes are available – without teacher names, room numbers, and blocks. Teacher names, room numbers and blocks will be viewable in IC prior to the start of the first day of school on August 16, 2016.

  • Where do you find your list of classes? (1) Go to IC, and (2) follow the directions posted on this link . The view will look different from the ‘normal’ list of classes. But, you will be able to see the list of classes that you are currently enrolled in for the 2016-2017 school year. Be sure to review your classes.

  • Please know that schedule changes are not possible for the following reasons: different teacher, different lunch, change of mind, a friend, incomplete summer assignment, etc.

  • As a reminder, the master schedule is created from student requests; therefore, changes are not a guarantee and are subject to seat availability. (Be sure to check IC again prior to the start of school as some electives may change due to seat availability and/or core classes may be scheduled on a different block due to leveling of classes.)

  • In requesting a different elective, please know that at this time electives are full, so requesting to add/drop electives will be granted based on availability.

  • Please do not directly contact your counselor to request a schedule change. Counselors officially do not return to school until August 12 at which time they will be working hard to: (1) review each and every submitted schedule request, and (2) register students new to the district/state. Submit all requests on the request form.

  • How do you know if your schedule request has been granted? Be sure to check IC before the start of school. However, if for some reason we cannot accommodate your request, you will be contacted via email or phone call.

How do you know if you are in honors? When you registered for elective classes, your core classes were posted for you to view. If you saw an AP and/or honors class, you are in the class.

 

                   

Information for the District’s Summer School Program at Longmont High School is now available.

 

Click this Link to see course offerings, dates, and registration information.  There will also be a summer session of eCredit Recovery which may be a good alternative for students who can not attend the Longmont High School summer school dates.  Space is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis so register now!  Contact your student’s counselor with questions.

 

Silver Creek Math Camp

 

The Mathematics Department is hosting Math Camp July 25 – 29 from 8:30 am – 11:30 am.  The camp is open to students who will be in 9th or 10th grade during the 2016-2017 school year.  Students will be engaged in non-traditional mathematical tasks to develop mathematical thinking and problem-solving.

 

Camp is limited to 36 students.  Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Notification of acceptance into these courses will be sent out electronically via email, once final rosters have been set.

 

Application is due May 25.  Use this link to complete the application.  Students who attend all week will receive SC merchandise and be entered into a raffle for a TI-84 color calculator.

Silver Creek Registration for 2016-2017 School Year

 

For all students – current Silver Creek and current 8th grade (students…. the registration window has closed.

  • If you have registration questions, please email norris_karen@svvsd.org or your Counselor.
  • If you have not registered, classes have been chosen for you.
  • Schedules will be released the first Monday or Tuesday in August. Be sure to check your schedule in Infinite Campus.

 

 

 

Athletics

 

Some summer athletic schedules have been posted.  Please visit the website athletics website:  http://schs-raptors.com/ for schedules or additional information.

 

Online registration for all 2016-17 sports will open on July 1, 2016.  In order to be eligible to tryout, all student-athletes must be registered online as well as have a current physical on file with Ms. Lehman in the Athletics Office.

 

All those interested in trying out need to complete the forms in the online registration system as well as turn in a valid physical with Ms. Lehman in the SCHS athletic office.  Physicals are valid for one calendar year, so students who already have a physical on file with Silver Creek just need to verify that information with Ms. Lehman.  Need a blank physical form? Once the online registration forms have been completed and physicals turned in, athletes are given a clearance card.  Coaches will collect the clearance cards at the first tryout date.

You may NOT participate without a clearance card.

News from Raptor Activities Booster Club (RABC):

 

What is the Raptor Activities Booster Club you ask??

The Raptor Activities Booster Club (RABC) is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 parent volunteer organization working together with SCHS administration, teachers, coaches and staff for the enrichment of activities and athletic programs at Silver Creek. In the 2015/2016 school year, we were able to distribute over $40,000 to teams and activities to help their programs.  Some examples of what these funds were used for are, protective gear such as helmets and rain suits, new tennis nets, weight room repairs, etc.  The success of the Booster Club is only possible through the awesome parent volunteers that we have here at Silver Creek – will you be one of them?   

Our Mission:

*Identify and fulfill SCHS program needs

*Raise funds to help support SCHS activities and athletics

*Develop community support for SCHS activities and athletics

*Develop positive support and involvement with elementary and middle school feeder programs

*Support legislation for the betterment of high school activities and athletics

Our New Board Members for the 2016/2017 year are…Patrice Powell as Vice President, & Kristy Warner as Secretary, we recently voted in a new Treasurer, Stacy Koelfgen!!  A huge Thank You to them for stepping up to be a part of this great organization.  They will officially start July 1, 2016.

SCOPA ANNOUNCEMENTS

SCOPA NEEDS BINGO VOLUNTEERS!!!  Bingo is how we fund the performing arts programs throughout the year.  Currently, we have a small number of families and individuals  that are supporting this program on behalf of every student in the “A” Wing.  The majority of the families that support this program volunteer their time nearly every week.  We need more volunteers to help, so the current small list of volunteers can have a few weekends off during the year.Without Bingo, student fees will go up and programs will lose the current funding. We are in desperate need of help with volunteer support for our two sessions, weekly.  Training and fun is provided at each session so that everyone feels comfortable with each task!

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

 

TO EXCUSE AN ABSENCE – please contact Lois Davis at 720-494-3721 or her direct line: 720-494-3738,  or via email:  davis_lois@svvsd.org.  Be sure to include the student’s first and last name as well as the date and reason for the absence. The absence must be called in or reported by email within 48 hours of the absence in order to be excused.  After 48 hours, absences can only be excused by the student’s assistant principal.

 

TAKING YOUR STUDENT OUT OF SCHOOL DURING THE SCHOOL DAY–  Any student who needs to leave during the school day should bring a signed note to the attendance window before school (or you can email a request to davis_lois@svvsd.org) indicating the time you would like him/her to be excused. The student will receive a pink pass to give to the teacher for the class from which the student will be leaving early.  Students should always sign out at the attendance window before they leave.  You can meet your child at the attendance window or tell him/her to sign out and meet you outside.  The attendance clerk will use the note to excuse the student in Infinite Campus.  If the absence is a last-minute appointment, call the office as soon as possible so your student can pick up a pass during passing period.  We know that emergencies arise and want to make the pick-up as easy as possible.  Planning ahead limits classroom disruption.

Extended absences (vacation) – There is an “Extended Leave of Absence” form students should submit prior to leaving for an extended time.  Forms are only needed if a student will be absent for more than 3 days.  This form allows teachers to document any assignments a student will be missing and their current grade in class.  Parents and students are required to sign the form, and after teachers have added grades/homework, students must get signatures from administration and return the form to the attendance clerk.

Health office visits- Students who are not feeling well need to let their teacher know so the students can be excused to visit the health office.  Students leaving school from the health office can sign themselves out and meet parents outside.  Parents/Guardians have 48 hours to excuse absences.  We strongly encourage students to contact their parents from the health office and not from the classroom.

IMPORTANT BUS INFORMATION

 

Attached you will find a MS Word Document that reiterates to parents that student bus passes are required to be stored and kept in a safe place over the summer to avoid their loss, and the subsequent cost of a replacement pass.  In addition, the letter also talks about the implementation of Zpass+, a notification system which sends time and location messages via phone text to parents when their student scans on and off the bus.  This is a great program that provides another level of safety and security for the students of SVVSD.  Parents are truly going to love this new functionality.  The system is currently active and ready for parents to sign up for an account and begin receiving these valuable text notifications.

Important Bus Pass Information for Parents of Students Riding the Bus     

 

Students only receive one free bus pass.  For a replacement pass, please contact the Bus Pass coordinator by sending an email to bus pass@svvsd.org or calling 303-702-7540.  The replacement cost for lost, stolen and/or mutilated bus passes is $5.00 and shows up as fee under your student’s name in Infinite Campus.  New students to the district or new to riding the bus may pick up their bus passes at the Main Office of the school they will be attending.

 

Low Cost Health Insurance

 

Students who are 18 and graduating may be eligible for FREE and LOW-COST HEALTH INSURANCE until their 19th birthdays! This health insurance is available through Medicaid and CHP+ and enrollment occurs right here through St Vrain Valley School District.  Once children turn 18 and are no longer in school, Medicaid no longer counts parent income towards the child’s eligibility!  Please call The Healthy Kids Initiative at 720-722-1454 to see if your kids qualify today!
