SENIORS: Jostens will be here on March 21 between 10:40 and 1:00 pm to deliver any graduation items you may have ordered (announcements, etc.) Please go to the A wing for pick up. Caps and Gowns will be delivered in May.

Prom will be held Saturday, April 8th at the Church Ranch Event Center in Westminster from 8 – 11:30 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale in Ms. Lindsey’s office Friday, March 17th from 7:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. until Thursday April 6th. Tickets will be sold at both lunches beginning Monday, March 20th through Thursday, April 6th. Do not procrastinate! Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. This year’s After Prom will be held at the Wild Game Experience in Longmont from midnight to 3 a.m.
Students will play unlimited darts, foosball, corn hole, ping pong, shuffleboard and indoor bocce ball. The Wild Game also has eight regulation-sized bowling lanes as well as dozens of high-tech video games. Pizza, pork slider sandwiches, chips and salsa, vegetables and dip as well as water and pop will be served throughout the evening.
A couple’s ticket will cost $95 and a single will be $50. If you are not attending Prom you can purchase an After Prom ticket for $20. Tickets can be purchased with cash or checks made out to SCHS.
All students, and parents, must sign the dance expectation contract and provide a school ID at check-in. Contracts will be available during ticket sales. No one over the age of 20 is allowed at Prom activities. If you are bringing a guest from another school, they also must sign the dance expectation contract. A dance expectation contract will also be required if you are only attending After Prom.
Think you have the best prom proposal? Send your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org. Four anonymous Silver Creek teachers will judge this year’s contest. The first place winner will receive two Prom tickets, with second place winning a boutonniere and corsage.
Please submit your entry by midnight Saturday, April 1st. You will receive a confirmation email that your entry was received. Winners will be announced Monday, April 3rd in the daily announcements (If you win first place, you will receive a refund for already purchased prom tickets).

Colorado Girls State Program
ATTENTION! Girls in the junior class. The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 32, Longmont, is offering a fun filled and educational week June 11-17, 2017 at the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley. This is the American Legion Auxiliary Colorado Girls State Program, an opportunity to learn about your government and how it works; a chance to test speaking abilities and interpersonal skills and develop friendships that will last a lifetime. All applications are done online. If you would like to join the 200 Colorado students who will participate in this year’s program, just go to www.alacolorado.com and look under Girls State. Applications are due by April 1st, 2017. There is no cost to the delegates.

All teachers in the Mathematics Department offer help outside of class time. Please consult your student’s teacher via syllabus, website, or email to find out what time(s) s/he is available.
Incoming Freshmen who are applying for courses that are above Algebra 2 / IMP 2 or for a course not consistent with the current math teacher’s recommendations are asked to take a placement test. The placement test is scheduled for April 19 and April 20 (4:00 pm – 5:00 pm) at Silver Creek High School. If your student is either planning on taking a course beyond Algebra 2 / IMP 2 or a course not recommended by the math teacher, please email Carmen Rubino (firstname.lastname@example.org) to reserve a spot on one of these two days. Please include which course for which you are registering.

BIG News from RABC!
After Prom: You may have heard already, but…After-Prom will be celebrated at The Wild Game Experience this year! It will be from 12:00am – 3:00am with no entry after 1:00am. After Prom will be included in the Prom tickets (going on sale this Friday) and there will be a charge of $20 for those who only will be attending After Prom (pre-sale only for this, no tickets will be sold at the event). This is our first time holding After Prom off-site. We are really excited about having this opportunity. We will talk more about this at the Booster Club meeting this coming Monday.
In the past we have asked for prize, food, and monetary donations to help with this event. Since it is off site and there is so much for the students to do there and food is provided, we will not need prize or food donations, however we will still need monetary donations. You can write a check to RABC or send cash and drop it off to Melissa Lehman OR you can donate on the school store website, please share this with your parents:

Board Members Needed: As you all know, my time as President has come to an end. It is time for new leadership, new ideas, a new face & voice for the Booster Club. As I stated in the meeting last month, I have been honored to serve the Silver Creek community in this role the past 4 years & in other board positions the 2 years before that. It has been such a wonderful experience for me and I want someone else to have this opportunity to serve in this way. It is very important that we fill this position, along with the Treasurer & Secretary before the school year ends. We would like to have the nominations at our meeting on Monday, March 20th so we can then vote at the April 24th meeting. We do not have a meeting in May, therefore these open seats need to be filled in April. Please contact any of the current board members if you are interested or want to know more about the positions. Good news…all of the current board members are NOT leaving the school – just stepping into different roles, so they are there to support you and help you if needed.
Bingo: Wow!! Bingo has been amazing these past 3 weeks!! We have had record numbers and the Bingo Buzz is awesome. I want to give a HUGE Thank you to all the volunteers who have stepped up to work Bingo. There are 2 more sessions where you could win a 50″ Flat Screen TV when playing Bingo on Wednesday night, then just wait and see what they have in store for you in the month of April!!! Send Check or Cash
You can always bring money personally or send it with your student. Please place it in an envelope marked clearly with your student’s name, their ID #, the $ amount and the check #. Turn in prepaid deposits to the cafeteria cashier(s) or school office.
TO EXCUSE AN ABSENCE – please contact Lois Davis at 720-494-3721 or her direct line: 720-494-3738, or via email: email@example.com. Be sure to include the student’s first and last name as well as the date and reason for the absence. The absence must be called in or reported by email within 48 hours of the absence in order to be excused. After 48 hours, absences can only be excused by the student’s assistant principal. Students may not be excused from a class and remain on campus. While on campus, students must attend their regularly scheduled classes or be counted “unexcused”.
TAKING YOUR STUDENT OUT OF SCHOOL DURING THE SCHOOL DAY– Any student who needs to leave during the school day should bring a signed note to the attendance window before school (or you can email a request to firstname.lastname@example.org) indicating the time you would like him/her to be excused. The student will receive a pink pass to give to the teacher for the class from which the student will be leaving early. Students should always sign out at the attendance window before they leave. You can meet your child at the attendance window or tell him/her to sign out and meet you outside. The attendance clerk will use the note to excuse the student in Infinite Campus. If the absence is a last-minute appointment, call the office as soon as possible so your student can pick up a pass during passing period. We know that emergencies arise and want to make the pick-up as easy as possible. Planning ahead limits classroom disruption.
ATTENDANCE POLICY UPDATE
Students should not be excused from one class in order to go somewhere else in the school building or otherwise remain on school grounds. Parents, please do not excuse your child from a class in order for him/her to avoid a test for which he/she isn’t prepared, or to avoid a particular class he/she doesn’t feel like attending that day. Students who are excused from school by a parent should not be on campus and may lose up to 50% credit on any assessment they miss while avoiding a class to “work in the library” or to try to catch up in another class. Please feel free to call the administration for any clarification of this policy.
Extended absences – There is an “Extended Leave of Absence” form students should submit prior to leaving for an extended time. Forms are only needed if a student will be absent for more than 3 consecutive days. This form allows teachers to document any assignments a student will be missing and their current grade in class. Parents and students are required to sign the form, and after teachers have added grades/homework, students must get signatures from administration and return the form to the attendance clerk. Absences may go unexcused if a student does not return the form to the attendance clerk.
Health office visits- Students who are not feeling well need to let their teacher know so the students can be excused to visit the health office. Students leaving school from the health office can sign themselves out and meet parents outside. Parents/Guardians have 48 hours to excuse absences. We strongly encourage students to contact their parents from the health office and not from the classroom.

IMPORTANT BUS INFORMATION
Attached you will find a MS Word Document that reiterates to parents that student bus passes are required to be stored and kept in a safe place over the summer to avoid their loss, and the subsequent cost of a replacement pass. In addition, the letter also talks about the implementation of Zpass+, a notification system which sends time and location messages via phone text to parents when their student scans on and off the bus. This is a great program that provides another level of safety and security for the students of SVVSD. Parents are truly going to love this new functionality. The system is currently active and ready for parents to sign up for an account and begin receiving these valuable text notifications.
Z Pass+ information – In an effort to better serve you, we are implementing a program called Z Pass+ this year. This free program will allow parents to receive text and/or email notifications via their smart phone whenever their student scans on or off the bus. This technology is invaluable, and provides an additional layer of safety and security for District students utilizing transportation services. The following link has directions on how to sign up.

Important Bus Pass Information for Parents of Students Riding the Bus
Students only receive one free bus pass. For a replacement pass, please contact the Bus Pass coordinator by sending an email to bus email@example.com or calling 303-702-7540. The replacement cost for lost, stolen and/or mutilated bus passes is $5.00 and shows up as fee under your student’s name in Infinite Campus. New students to the district or new to riding the bus may pick up their bus passes at the Main Office of the school they will be attending.
